Well, we had our December yoopercoinshooters metal detecting club meeting on December 29th at my residence. We only had a dozen members attending because of the holiday season but decided to hold the meeting anyways. Basically just the officers attended and we didn’t vote on anything and more or less had a year in review discussion.
I did mention to those present how to de-tune the Garrett Propointer pinpointer. This feature comes in handy when you have a coin in a small plug hole and the unit beeps where ever you have the pinpointer in the hole. The solution is, when the pinpointer beeps rapidly you turn the unit off and immediately turn it back on and then it will only beep when the tip is about 1/4 of an inch from the coin.
I did tell the members present about Lynn and myself going to the Gladstone and Escanaba police departments along with the Delta county sheriff’s department and the local Michigan State police post and offer the clubs assistance at any crime scene with our metal detectors. Each department took our contact info and thanked us.
I have been watching hundreds of youtube metal detecting videos. I subscribe to about 35 different youtube detectorist. The last two which I found very interesting were gravediggermax in Virginia and the ringfinders metal detecting service started by Chris Turner in Vancouver British Columbia, Canada. Chris has 119 videos and he is very successful in locating lost rings, etc. He started a world wide service and has many countries and most U.S. states where there are members of the ringfinders service listed on his website. I watched every one of his 119 videos. gravediggermax in Virginia Beach, VA is a very animated fellow and he and 4 or 5 of his friends go to the local beaches every day. I viewed all 537 of his you tube videos. I know, Get a life! I’ve caught the type A influenza and the last six weeks had me in the local walk-in clinic plus 3 trips to the emergency room. This has been the worst cold/flu I’ve ever had and all I have to say now is, GET A FLU SHOT !!!!
I also watched a youtube video about a new and interesting detector called the XP Deus. Put that one in your browser and check it out.
Okay, that’s about it for this one. I will do a separate post on my 2012 Coin finds totals sometime in the next few days. In the meantime, good luck detecting and don’t forget to cover your holes…..PLEASE.
