We had our March meeting of the yoopercoinshooters last Saturday and had a pretty good turnout. After the pledge of allegiance Jason Bernard took roll call and Bill Castle gave his secretary report. We signed up our newest member Jim McKnight from Gladstone.
We feel we’re making progress in getting metal detecting re-instated on city property in Gladstone. I think we probably will know by sometime in May. Keep your fingers crossed.
The weather is still pretty winter like but, the month of April should show improvement. Last night I actually heard thunder and we had a little lightning show. I just looked at the forecast for Friday the 4th of April and it shows freezing rain in the morning…then snow likely in the afternoon. Snow may be heavy at times in the afternoon. YUK!! We still have a lot of snow on the ground and the frost went 7 to 8 feet deep so as the melt comes, the water has no place to go.
As soon as the ground thaws the club is going to do several demos on taking plugs the right way and making certain everyone is proficient at it.
The 50/50 drawing was won by our new club vice president Liz Eason. She certainly has been lucky lately. She recently won another local event and had enough to purchase a new White’s MX5 metal detector.
Ron Chouinard said he would check on prices for a club banner that we can display at park meetings and our picnics in the fall. I just ordered another dozen club caps from Steve & Vicky Viau. I ordered summer caps with the mesh this time.
As soon as the ground thaws we’re taking a trip to a ghost town about 60 or so miles from Gladstone for our first club field trip. I have a few items to award for best finds on the trip.
Well, it’s 3:15 am Wednesday and I have to get SOME sleep, so off this goes to post and I’m outta here. Don’t forget to cover your holes…..please
