We held our Yoopercoinshooters metal detecting club meeting at Bayview Manor in Gladstone, Michigan on January 29th at 12:30 pm EST.
The meeting was called to order at 12:40 and we started as we always do with the Pledge Of Allegiance.
Next was Donna Gillespie’s secretarys report. Donna read the minutes from the December meeting and Bill Castle made a motion to accept as read and seconded by Tom Robison.
Rand Gillespie followed that with the treasurers report which informed the membership of the clubs surplus after expenditures from the December annual Christmas party meal and drawing gifts. A motion was made by Bill Castle and seconded by Tom Robison to accept Rands treasurers report. Rand also reported that all members 2018 yearly dues have been paid.
I reminded all members to remove the batteries from their detectors and pinpointers. I also mentioned taking the protective coil covers off their detectors and rinse and dry them before replacing them. I am always surprised at how much sand and grass gets inside those tight fitting coil covers.
We voted on a couple changes in future club doings and they are as follows: Change the name of the December “White Elephant party” to our “Christmas Party”. Another change will be a 2 dollar drawing, one ticket per member for a twenty dollar gas card at our local Holiday gas stations. The final change was when we hold the annual December attendance drawing for a silver Morgan dollar and a silver Peace dollar. If a member wins the first drawing they are not eligible for the second drawing. This change was suggested after my wife Sharon won both coins at the Decenber 2017 drawing.
The fifty fifty drawing was next and was won by Bill Castle. Congratulations Bill.
The silver coin drawings were the next agenda item and went as follows: Lynn Richards won the silver Washington quarter, Rand and Donna Gillespie each won a silver Mercury dime, and Tom Robison and Brian Tepsa each won a silver Roosevelt dime. Congratulations to all winners.
I told the usual two jokes which was ho hum this month and I promised to have a couple Lulu’s next month.
Thanks to Brian Tepsa and Sharon Bruner for the after meeting snacks. Donna Gillespie brought soda and I made the coffee.
The next regular meeting will be Saturday, February 24th at 12:30 pm, EST at Bayview Manor in Gladstone Michigan. That’s it for this one. The older we get, the faster time flies by, so the 2018 detecting season is just around the corner! See ya next month and don’t forget to cover your holes……………….PLEASE.
