The August 25th, 2018 meeting of the yoopercoinshooters metal detecting club was called to order at 12:32 pm EST.
We said the Pledge of Allegiance.
Dan Trenary was first up with his secretary’s report: Dan told the membership about the CPR class he went through recently. Dan also mentioned that he was going to stop in at the newspaper office or give them a call to change my phone number in our club ad for the contact number. Bonnie Philips made a motion to accept Dan’s treasurers report as read and Michael Hurkmans seconded that motion followed by a majority of ayes from the membership.
Next business was the treasurers report from Rand Gillespie. Before Rand started his report I reminded all members that Rand will be collecting dues today for the 2018/2019 year. I gave Rand a check for $24.30 from bottle and can deposits that the Hurkmans brought to the July meeting. Our treasury monies have depreciated some but will build back up with yearly club dues collections. Rand still has 8 or so members to contact for dues payment. Members, don’t forget to make out dues checks to Rand, don’t make them out to the yoopercoinshooters detecting club. A motion was made by Michael Hurkmans and seconded by Bonnie Philips to accept Rands treasurers report as read followed by the membership with a show of hands.
I informed the membership that the next “Adopt A Highway” cleanup will be Friday, September 28th.
I also reminded The members that our next meeting of the yoopercoinshooters metal detecting club will be Saturday September 29th at 12:30 pm, the day after the “Adopt A Highway” cleanup.
I told the membership that I was sorry for any inconvience this has caused members, especially the Hurkmans coming about 100 miles from Iron River and Ray Roberts and Pete and Elaine coming about 60 miles from Ishpeming. If memory serves me right I think the Hurkmans mentioned bringing their camper down so they won’t have to make two trips?
The five silver coin drawings, free for members only went as follows: silver Washington quarter, Sharon Bruner – Mercury dime, Bonnie Philips – Mercury dime, Pete Harvala – silver Roosevelt dime, Donna Gillespie – silver Roosevelt dime, Bill Castle. Next was the 50/50 drawing for anyone attending – $1.00 a ticket no limit on tickets.
Next was the $20.00 Gas card drawing – Members only – $2.00 for ticket, only one entry per member. Sharon Bruner won. Sharon doesn’t drive so I (her husband) gave her the 20 dollars for the card.
A motion was made at a past meeting to change the selling of different colored tickets for various drawings the club holds. The suggestion was to discontinue the tickets and use a specially numbered duplicate poker chip system instead. Bonnie Philips made a motion followed by Michael Hurkmans to bring the suggestion to a vote. The vote was unanimous to keep existing the ticket system for the club drawings.
I frequently ask the membership if anyone has a spot where the members can hold a club hunt and Dan Trenary mentioned a spot in the Rock area and another in the Watson area. After a membership discussion we decided on the Watson area. The club will be meeting at the old Jaeger IGA store in the Watson area on Saturday September 22nd at noon EST.
Michael Hurkmans made a motion to adjourn the meeting and seconded by, Bonnie Philips, all in favor with a show of hands, meeting adjourned at 2:15 pm, EST.
Well, That’s it for this newsletter. Til the next one, good hunting, always get permission and “DON’T FORGET TO COVER YOUR HOLES………PLEASE.
