November 2018 Yooper Coinshooters Club Meeting

The November 24th, 2018 meeting of the yooper coinshooters metal detecting club was called to order at 12:35 pm EST.

We started as we do each meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Dan Trenary gave the secretarys report and Bonnie Philips made a motion to accept it as read followed by Brian Tepsa with a second. All in favor with a show of hands to accept it as read.

Next item was Rand’s treasurers report. We have a tidy amount of cash in the treasury and we also have an updated roster of 18 members. The membership goes up and down as some have obligations on Saturday which makes it difficult to attend. A motion was made by Bonnie Philips and seconded by Dan Trenary to accept Rand’s report as read.

We started planning the Christmas party and White Elephant gift exchange that will be in December. We agreed to do it like we have in the past. The party will be on December 22nd which is also the date for our regular December meeting. We’ll also raffle off a $20 gift certificate to go towards a Christmas ham. Also at the December meeting we’ll be drawing for the winner in the 2018 attendance contest.

The first place winner will get a Morgan silver dollar and second place will be a silver Peace dollar. The attendance drawing was started on December 2016.

When we had the first drawing we said it’d be for two silver dollars, one Morgan and one peace dollar for the winner. Dan Trenary won the drawing for the two coins. The next year, 2017 we decided it would be better if we held two separate drawings to give two members a chance. Well guess what? Sharon Bruner won both separate drawings. In 2018 we decided to have two drawings but if you won the first drawing you’d be unable to be in the second drawing… there I think we got it right and it’ll be fair to all members. Sometimes we don’t get it right at first and have to make a change!

Next on the agenda was the five silver coin drawings. The five silver coin drawings are free for members only: silver Washington quarter, won by Bonnie Philips – Mercury dime, won by Pete “lucky” Harvala – Mercury dime, won by Rand Gillespie – silver Roosevelt dime, won by Dan Trenary and the last – silver Roosevelt dime, won by Sharon Bruner.

Next was the 50/50 drawing. The winner was: Brian Tepsa

Next was the $20.00 Gas card drawing. The winner was: Pete Harvala

Congratulations to all the drawing winners.

Next agenda item is my usual two jokes. But I did five jokes. I should have stopped at four because the fifth one bombed! Can’t win them all.

Brian Tepsa made a motion to adjourn the meeting which was seconded by Bonnie Philips.

All in favor with a show of hands, meeting adjourned at 1:45 pm, EST.

The next meeting of the yooper coinshooters metal detecting club will be Saturday December 22nd at 12:30 pm EST.

Time for snacks. The snacks were brought in by: Sharon Bruner, Bill Castle, Matt Smith, Elaine Harvala, Brian Tepsa, Dan Trenary, and Donna Gillespie. Boy did we have a feast after the meeting!

OK, That’s it for this one. Good hunting (for deer) and good luck if your still detecting. Don’t forget to cover your holes…PLEASE.
