The December 22nd, 2018 meeting of the yoopercoinshooters metal detecting club was called to order at 12:30 pm EST.
This is going to be a short newsletter. I got to the meeting just after it ended and the members were eating. I was out of town for a few days and couldn’t do the meeting but Donna Gillespie took over in my place. Thanks Donna.
The meeting started as always with the Pledge of Allegiance.
Dan Trenary gave the secretary report and Rand gave the treasurers report. I don’t have the info on who made any motions. We do have a sufficient amount of money to make club purchases and give away prizes.
The club held the annual White Elephant Christmas party and White Elephant gift exchange. We had agreed to do it like in the past. The party is also the date for our regular December meeting. We also raffled off a $20 gift certificate to go towards a Christmas ham. This year it was won by Bill Castle. Next was the drawing for the winners in the 2018 attendance contest. The first place winner got a Morgan silver dollar and the winner was Mike Hurkmans and Brian Tepsa won the second prize of a silver Peace dollar. The attendance drawing was started on December of 2016. Bill Castle won the drawing for the twenty dollar gas card. Bonnie Philips won the fifty-fifty drawing.
Next on the agenda was the five silver coin drawings. The five silver coin drawings are free for members only. The winners went as follows: silver Washington quarter, won by Elaine Harvala – silver Roosevelt dime, won by Ray Roberts – Mercury dime, won by Dan Trenary – silver Roosevelt dime, won by Bonnie Philips and the last drawing for a Mercury dime won by Randy Gillespie. Congratulations to all the drawing winners.
Next agenda item was my usual two jokes. I wasn’t here and Dan Trenary had a told good and someone mentioned it were better than mine….yeah sure?
I have the info about who made a motion to adjourn and the meeting ended around 1:30. a motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Bonnie Philips.
The next meeting of the yoopercoinshooters metal detecting club will be Saturday January 26th at 12:30 pm EST.
Time for the Christmas meal. Donna Gillespie picked up the main meat that the club purchased consisting of three large buckets of chicken from the Family Inn in Wells. That chicken was extra delicious. Elaine Harvala brought meatballs, Brian Tepsa brought dinner rolls, Dan Trenary brought bags of chips, Matt Smith brought baked Beans, Karen Castle brought cracker dip and deviled eggs. I and my wife Sharon got back into town and when we arrived at the meeting the food had just been set out so we dug in and everything was delicious.
OK, that’s it for this one. If you’re up here in the north for the winter don’t forget to take the batteries out of your detectors and pin pointers. If your lucky enough to go south and do some detecting, don’t forget to cover your holes…PLEASE.
