August Yooper Coinshooters Monthly Meeting

The August 31st, 2019 meeting of the yoopercoinshooters metal detecting club was called to order at 12:42 pm EST.

The meeting started as always with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Dan Trenary, gave his secretary report. Dan also went over some of the minutes from the July meeting and he also reminded the members that yearly dues will be collected today. A motion was made to accept Dan’s report by Ray Philips and seconded by Bonnie Philips.

Rand Gillespie gave his treasurers report. Rand advised the members that we have ample money to fund our usual club giveaway drawings, miscellaneous club needs and money for prizes for our upcoming picnic and club hunt this month on Saturday the 21st. A motion to accept Rands report was made by Bonnie Philips and seconded by Bill Castle.

I’ve made a little adjustment to the club officer’s picture. The club officer’s picture is located here. The caption under the picture now reads, Bill Bruner, club president – Dan Trenary, secretary – Rand Gillespie, treasurer – Donna Gillespie, assistant treasurer and Adopt A Highway Coordinator.

At the August meeting Bill Castle informed us that he won’t be able to make the picnic as he has a wedding to attend that day.

We did nail down the club picnic date for Saturday, September 21st at 12:30 EST. As I stated in the comments in Rand’s report. Donna, Rand, Dan and myself are going to meet September 12th to figure how much first, second, and third place in the hunt will pay. The picnic will be here at Bay View Manor. The hunt will be in a park yet to be determined. We made a list at the meeting as to what dish members are bringing to pass around. I and my wife Sharon will be burying the coins. Neither Sharon or myself will be getting in the hunt. The club is furnishing hot dogs, sloppy joes, buns, coffee and soda. Bring your smiles because, I’ll be taking pictures.

The next adopt a highway outing will be on Friday September 20th. We’ll meet at the intersection of M-69 and US 2 & 41 (Perronville/Schaffer road).

Next on the agenda were the five silver coin drawings. First was a silver Washington quarter won by – Elaine Harvala. Next were 4 Mercury dimes won by – Rand Gillespie, Tyler Pankonien, Dan Trenary and Donna Gillespie.

Next was the 50/50 drawing and the winner was Bonnie Philips.

Next was the $20 gas card and the winner was Ray Philips
